COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
The Travelling Stage offers a variety of Community Production Programs for performers of all ages. Our programs are led by passionate teachers and industry professionals in a safe and inclusive environment. We teach music, acting, dance and movement skills with an emphasis on creativity, connection and fun.

JUNIOR PRODUCTION PROGRAM

We do occasionally have spots that open up in our Community Production Programs. We strongly encourage you to complete the registration form below to be added to our WAITLIST. Ideal for youngsters interested in exploring the world of dancing, singing and acting. All performers will work towards the final show of The Lion King Kids on the big stage with costumes, props and sets.
Ages: 5-9 years
Thursdays: 5:30pm to 6:15pm
Rehearsals: September 7th, 2023 to February 29th, 2024
Additional Sunday Classes may be scheduled in February closer to performance time.
Performance Weekend: March 1-3, 2024
Rehearsal Location: Northminster United Church, Oshawa (Rossland & Simcoe)
Performance Location: TBA
Junior Program Investment: $380.00+HST for the entire year’s program.
Performers, ages 5-9, will participate in our community musical theatre production program in preparation for a full scale production. Every participant will have a role or be featured in some way in the final presentation regardless of previous experience. You do not need to audition to be in this program and students will be assigned to groups based on their age and skill level.
Children will be assigned to roles, but the process will be very gentle and multi-casting may be employed throughout to extend as many performance opportunities as possible. The emphasis of our Junior Program is on the skills and courage it takes to step onto the stage!
INCLUDED IN OUR PRODUCTION PROGRAMS:
Quality acting, voice and dance instruction in a safe and inclusive environment alongside three full-time industry professionals.
Private and small group coaching.
Opportunities to perform on a stage in front of family and friends.
A headshot & pizza party!
We will be double casting this production so that we can offer performance opportunities to two sets of leads.
Although this program will be fun, we also expect full commitment from all participants. This includes reviewing music and lines in between sessions and a commitment to attendance.
*Cost includes rehearsals, costumes/sets/props, headshot, pizza party, and Final Performance. Additional costs include show tickets and script purchase (these may be borrowed). No administration fee.

YOUTH PERFORMANCE TROUPE – Mamma Mia
Geared to both beginner and advanced young performers, this program will teach music, acting, dance and movement skills with an emphasis on performance. This program will end with a live production featuring all students of this program on a big stage with costumes, sets and props
Please note that this program will be licensing the full stage production, not the junior version.
Ages: 11-16 years
Mondays: 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Rehearsals: October 2023 through April 2024
This program includes a full day March 11 March Break rehearsal (no extra charge)
*There will be no class on Family Day 2024.
*Additional Sunday classes may be scheduled in March
Performance Weekend: April 11-13, 2024
Rehearsal Location: Northminster United Church, Oshawa (Rossland & Simcoe)
Performance Location: Hope Fellowship Church (Courtice)
Performance Troupe Investment:$690.00+HST for the entire year’s program
Performers ages 11-16 will participate in our community musical theatre production program in preparation for a full scale production of Mamma Mia. Every participant will have a role or be featured in some way in the final presentation regardless of previous experience. You do not need to audition to be in this program. We will determine production roles based on class assessments and role auditions in the fall. Students will be assigned to groups based on their age and skill level.
Participants registered for our Youth Performance Troupe will have the opportunity to audition for a lead role. If cast in a lead role, they will be required to attend our Main Roles Program for extra vocal coaching, acting and dance classes outside of the scheduled program time at an additional charge (see below for additional information).
Please note that all participants will be featured in the final production. Taking on the responsibility for a lead role is not required and will not take away from participants receiving quality instruction over the course of the year.
MAIN ROLES PROGRAM FOR YOUTH PERFORMANCE TROUPE:
Lead roles will be cast by audition after the start of the Youth Performance Troupe Program for interested performers.
Extra rehearsals, coaching and workshops will be required in addition to regular Performance Troupe rehearsals and commitments.
Rehearsals (beginning November 6th ): Mondays, 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Main Roles Program Additional Investment: $295.00+HST for additional classes and coaching outside of regular program.

ADULT PRODUCTION PROGRAM
Aimed at performers 18+, this program will teach music, acting, dance and movement skills with an emphasis on performance. This program will end with a live musical revue featuring all students of this program on a big stage with costumes, sets and props.
Production: A Musical Revue
Ages: 18-108 years
Duration: November 2023 through April 2024
Classes will be held on Thursdays: Nov 16, 23, 30, Dec 7, 14, Jan 4, 11, 18, 25, Feb 1, 8, 15, 29, March 7, 21, 28, April 4, 18
Time Slot: 8:30-9:45pm
Performance Weekend: April 25-28, 2024

No experience necessary (that’s the fun part)! Just bring your willingness to learn and an open mind.
Revue will consist of two acts of full ensemble numbers, solos, duets and small group numbers. We will tailor the material to suit the skill sets of our participants.

*Cost includes rehearsals, costumes/sets/props, and a final production in a large theatre with sets and props. There are no additional fees beyond this, except for the production tickets at the end of the program. No administration fee.

This program helps students explore how to use their voice, body and emotion to bring a character to life. By the end of session, students will have the basic tools to help them lift a character off the page and put it on the stage. Students will work toward a final in-class performance for parents, which will take place on the final day of session.
Theatre Arts I
Ages: 10-13

Using monologues, students will explore how to use their voice, body and emotion to bring a character to life. Students will work toward a final in-class monologue performance for parents, which will take place on the final day of session.

This program will explore characterization, voice and the art of the monologue. It is recommended that students have some previous drama experience before taking this program. Students will work toward a final in-class monologue collective performance for parents, which will take place on the final day of session.
